功能对等理论在政治演说翻译中的应用-以奥巴马演说为例_英语论文

On Political Speech Translation－A Case Study of Obama’s Speeches

摘要

功能对等理论认为翻译时不能一味追求形式上的一致，功能对等理论的核心是译文接受者与译文的关系应该与原文接受者与原文的关系大体一致。政治演说文本的翻译难点在于词意误解以及复杂句的错误分割等。本论文以功能对等理论为指导，通过对奥巴马演说英文文本和汉语译本的分析，指出通过词性转换、长句拆分等翻译策略和方法来实现内容对等和形式对等，以求达到译文与原文意义一致、译文读者与原文读者感受相同的目的。

Abstract

The functional equivalence theory holds that when translating, we should not pursue the formal consistency, and the relationship between the receiver and the target text should be in line with the relationship between the original recipient and the original text, which is the core of the functional equivalence theory. The difficult points of the political speech translation lie in the words’ misinterpretation, and the wrong segmentation of complex sentence. With the functional equivalence theory as the theoretical framework and through the analysis of the translation of the Obama's speeches, this thesis points out that the conversion of part of speech and the segmentation of complex sentence are the translation strategies generally applied to achieve formal equivalence and content equivalence, so that the purpose that the translation is consistent with the original meaning and the feeling of target readers is the same as the original readers may be fulfilled.
