Application of Cooperative Principle in International Business Negotiation Interpretation

摘要

在国际商务谈判中,口译作为一种特殊的交流方式是不可缺少的。商务谈判口译人员必须准确了解谈判双方的意图,礼貌清晰地表达双方的意愿,从而推动商务谈判的顺利进行。谈判时,交谈双方常常会遵守合作原则,但有时为了达到某种特殊的交际目的,他们也会故意违反合作原则。本文以合作原则为理论基础,以案例分析法为主要研究方法,分析了商务谈判口译语言对数量准则,质量准则,关系准则及方式准则的遵守和违反现象,并论证了其语用效果。

Abstract

Interpretation is indispensable as a means of communication in international business negotiation. Interpreters must understand the purpose of the two sides accurately and express their meaning politely and clearly so as to drive the business negotiation to proceed smoothly. Both sides often observe Cooperative Principle when they negotiate with each other. However, sometimes they will deliberately violate Cooperative Principle in order to achieve some special communicative purposes. This thesis, based on Cooperative Principle, analyzes the observance and violation of quantity maxim, quality maxim, relation maxim and manner maxim in international business negotiation interpretation by means of case study, and lastly elaborates its pragmatic effect.
