Analysis on Grammar Features of English Business Contracts From Systemic-functional Grammar

摘要

本文以韩礼德的系统功能语法为理论基础，从语气、语态、时态的语法三方面分析英文商务合同的语法特征。分析发现：在语气特征方面，英文商务合同常用陈述语气以及低频率使用祈使语气；在语态特征方面，英文商务合同通常使用被动语态；在时态特征方面，英文商务合同常用一般将来时和一般现在时以及偶见不同时态的连用。希望本文的研究能够更好地揭示英文商务合同的语法特征，并能够帮助贸易从事者更好地撰写英文商务合同，从而促进贸易活动的顺利进行。

Abstract

The thesis, based on the theory of Halliday’s systemic-functional grammar,      analyzes the grammar features of English business contracts from three variables of  grammar which are mood, voice and tense. Moods of English business contracts  are researched by analyzing the frequent use of indicative mood and the scarce use of imperative mood. Voice of English business contracts is analyzed by focusing on the use of passive voice and its function and pragmatic significance. Tenses of English business contracts are researched by analyzing the frequent use of simple  future tense and simple present tense, and the scarce mix of different tenses. The thesis will show the main grammar features of English business contracts through detailed analysis. For the purpose that the thesis is to help business traders to write English business contracts better and promote the smooth development of business   activities.
