American Culture behind the American Slang

摘要

美国俚语是一种相当特殊的语言形式。作为一种交流工具，美国俚语是美式英语中最有活力的一部分，在美国的现代生活中起着极其重要的作用。本文从社会学的角度论述了美国俚语的三种语言特征，即不同的起源、使用和修辞手段。美国俚语的研究能够帮助英语学习者更好地理解美国的语言和文化，和其他说英语的国家。这项研究还可以帮助英语学习者达到学英语和跨文化交流的目的。

这篇论文分为五章。在第一章和第二章介绍了美国俚语的起源和发展。在第三章讨论了美国俚语的特点。第四章分析了美国俚语所反映的美国文化。最后一章总结了以上章节所涉及的内容。

Abstract

American slang is a rather special language form. As a communication tool, American slang is the most vibrant part of American English and plays an extremely important role in American modern life. From a sociological perspective, this thesis discusses the three language features of American slang, which are diverse origins, frequent utilization and full of rhetoric devices. The research of American slang helps English learners better understand the language and culture of America. It can also help the English learners achieve the purpose of English learning and intercultural communication.

The paper is divided into five chapters. In the first and second chapters, it introduces the origin and development of American slang. In the third chapter, it discusses characteristics of American slang. In the fourth chapter, it analyses American culture that is reflected by American slang. The last chapter draws a conclusion of what have been discussed in the above chapters.
