On the Translation of Film Title–From the Perspective of Skopos Theory

摘要

近年来，由于改革开放的影响，中国电影行业迅速发展，特别是越来越多的年轻人喜爱从西方引进的电影。所以，电影片名的翻译在翻译领域中越来越重要。从功能目的论角度来说，目的原则是翻译的首要准则。翻译的目的决定了翻译的整个过程和结果。电影片名特定的翻译性质决定了其翻译的独特性。电影片名是一种特殊的语言风格并且电影片名的翻译是有目的的活动。本文将先简要介绍该理论的框架及主要内容。然后通过分析一些电影片名的翻译案列，得出结论电影片名的翻译是一项有目的性的行为活动，并且有跨文化交流的意义。然后在翻译目的论的理论基础下提出可行的翻译策略及技巧，包括直译，意译以及重命名。最后在结论部分中对全文进行了总结回顾,并对电影片名的翻译中存在的一些问题提出了一些修改建议。

Abstract

In recent years, China’s film industry has developed rapidly, and especially the films introduced from Western countries have become the love of many young people. Therefore, the part of film title translation in the translation filed has become increasingly important. From the perspective of skopos theory, the first principle of translation is the principle of purpose. The purpose of translation determines the whole process and results of translation (Nord 25). The specific translation purpose of the film title determines the uniqueness of its translation. Film title is a special style of language and the translation of film title is a purposeful activity. This thesis will first give a brief introduction of the core of framework and the concept of the theory. And then through the teleology analysis of some cases of the film title translation,getting the conclusion that the title of the translation is a purposeful behavioral activities, and has the meaning of cross-cultural communication. And then bringing up some feasible strategies and techniques from the perspective of skopos theory, including literal translation, transliteration and creative translation and putting forward some suggestions on the translation of the film title.
