从目的论视角研究科幻小说《三体》的译本_英语论文

An Analysis of Science Fiction Translation from the Perspective of SKOPOS--Taking The Three-body Problem as an Example

摘要

《三体》是一部带有中国特色的科幻小说,由刘肯翻译的英文译本曾获得2015年雨果奖的最佳小说奖。本文以目的论为指导进行对《三体》英译研究旨在分析刘肯在翻译过程中是如何体现小说的目的以及如何使译本更好地适应译语读者的需要。《三体》小说在英译过程中的一些省略和改动的目的,译者在翻译过程中使用的策略是否满足目的论的各项条件，在翻译过程中译者是如何对目的论三原则进行处理的（三原则,即目的原则、连贯原则,忠实原则之间关系）。在具体研究过程中,《三体》特色和中国特色的内容是本论文重点研究的对象。在本论文中从译者如何翻译小说中文化大革命场景，科学理论，以及中国特色人物等方面展开研究，通过对比中英两版小说，从而得出刘肯的英文译本所体现的以目的论为指导的翻译特点。通过对比分析，论文研究发现译者通过采用增、减等翻译方法保证了译本达到让小说更适应读者的目的。译者采用多种注释方法保证了进行文化交流和传播中国文化的目的。《三体》小说的译本很好的达到了作者写作的目的和文化传播等目的。

Abstract

The Three-Body Problem is a science fiction with distinct Chinese characteristics and won the 2015 Hugo’s Award. The translation study of The Three-Body Problem under SKOPOS theory is aimed at finding out how the translation met the requirements of SKOPOS theory and how SKOPOS theory guided the practice of literary translation.

This thesis will answer the questions followed. What is the purpose of the changing and deleting in the translation? How does translator use the translation strategies to meet the requirement of SKOPOS theory? How does Liu Ken deal with the three basic rules of SKOPOS theory (SKOPOS rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule)?

This paper mainly focus on the Chinese characteristic and The Three-Body Problem characteristics. The thesis analyzed from three aspects: Cultural Revolution Scenes, Science Related Information and Description of Chinese Characteristics. By comparing source text(ST) with target text(TT) this paper finds out the characteristic of SKOPOS theory. Liu Ken used omission and addition to keep the translation under the SKOPOS theory. Liu also used the translator's explanation to keep the translation obey the rule of intercultural coherence, making the translation keeps the rule of intercultural communication.
