阐释学视阈下译者主体性研究-以恩沙《书剑恩仇录》译本为例_英语论文

On Translator’s Subjectivity from the Perspective of Hermeneutics—— A Case Study of The book and the sword 

摘要

在传统翻译研究中，译者通常处于一种被忽视的边缘地位，因而其主观能动性并未获得应有的认可，也就是译者通常顺从作者和原文，而其自身却成了“隐形人”。随着近期对于翻译中译者主体性地位研究的进一步加深，翻译主体性研究己成为翻译界炙手可热的话题，本文正是顺应了这种趋势从阐释学角度对译者主体性进行探讨。

从广义上来说，阐释学可被定义为“对于文本之意义的理解和解释的理论或哲学”。阐释学的三大原则对当代翻译学有很大的指导意义，本文主要把阐释学作为其理论基础来研究翻译中译者主体性的发挥。

武侠小说是中国文学史上的瑰宝，但是由于中外文化差异巨大以及武侠小说翻译中相应的困难性，很多翻译者以及读者望而却步。截止到最近，一共只有聊聊数本武侠小说的英译本出现。这些英译本的出现给了广大西方学者与读者一个了解中国历史与武侠小说的机会，但是武侠小说的英译本是否优美而忠实表达了中国武侠小说的侠义精神等问题成为了翻译界和翻译研究中的焦点。为此译者在翻译策略的制定，翻译理论的选择充分发挥其主体性，试图达成最贴合原著的翻译的效果，为武侠小说翻译的发展提供新的视角与参考。

本文通过对恩沙译本的《书剑恩仇录》中翻译个案的具体分析得出结论，一方面，阐释学对研究武侠小说翻译中译者主体性有很大的指导意义；另一方面，恩沙在翻译过程中，在不损害原著思想内涵和艺术风格的前提下，充分发挥主体性和创造性，在对一些特定词语的翻译，译文带有浓厚的本族文化特色。在新的文化环境里赋予了原著新的形式，使之与译文读者进行文化交流，在另一个文化氛围里延续了原作的生命。

Abstract

In traditional translation studies, the translator has always been ignored and marginalized. In this case, his or her subjective dynamics has not obtained its deserved recognition, and they were regarded to comply with the author and the source text like a totally invisible man. Thanks to the recent discussion and exploration on the translator' subjective status, the study on the translator's subjectivity has become a heated topic in the translation circle. This thesis will comply with this trend to do the study on the translator's subjectivity through its three main principles i.e. "historical interpretation", "fusion of horizons", "effective history" on the basis of Hermeneutic theory.

In a broad view, hermeneutics can be defined as "the theory or philosophy of understanding and interpretation of the meaning of text". And the core concepts exert great effects on translation. This thesis studies this kind of philosophy in detail as the theoretical basis for the further study on the translator's subjectivity.

 Chinese martial arts fiction is a treasured object in Chinese literature. The huge cultural gap and the corresponding difficulties in translation have discouraged many western readers and translators. Up till today, only a few martial art fictions have been translated and published. And these translations provided a chance learning about Chinese history and Chinese martial arts fictions for vast western scholars and readers. Meanwhile, whether these translation works has expressed traditional wuxia spirit has been a focus of translation studies or in translation field. For this purpose, the translator gave full play to his subjectivity in translation strategy formulation and the choice of translation theory to achieve the most appropriate original translation effect. Provide new perspectives and reference for the development of martial arts fiction translations. 

Therefore, this thesis mainly focuses on the exact examples quoted from Earnshaw’s translation version of the Book and the Sword. Then in conclusion chapter,  

hermeneutics has great guiding significance in studying translator's subjectivity of martial arts novels. On the other hand, Earnshaw gave full play to the subjectivity and creativity with the premise of not prejudicing original ideological content and artistic style in the process of translation. In some specific words translations, translations carry with native cultural characteristics. He made the original text in new forms in the new cultural environment to communicate with the readers, and he continued the original life in another culture atmosphere.
