The Study on the Cognition and Pragmatic Function of Hedges

摘要

模糊语言在人们的日常生活中非常普遍。模糊限制语作为模糊语言的重要一员，起着非常重要的作用。模糊限制语应用广泛并且具有很高的语用价值。本文将从语用角度对变动型模糊限制语和缓和型模糊限制语进行分析，同时也会对模糊限制语的语用功能进行分析，探究模糊限制语是如何影响人们的交流以及在其中起着什么作用。模糊限制语体现了礼貌原则、合作原则、关联理论等。通过理论研究和例证分析，可以发现合理运用模糊限制语可以使语言表达更为得体、礼貌，保护交谈双方的面子，以及增强语言表达的灵活性和有效性。此外，运用模糊限制语也可以表达人物情感并凸显人物性格。本文对模糊限制语的研究，体现了其实用价值，了解并学会如何运用模糊限制语是十分必要的。

Abstract

Fuzzy language is prevalent in real life. Hedges, as an important part of fuzzy language, play an important role in people’s verbal communication. Hedges are widely used and have important pragmatic values. This paper analyzes the approximators and shields from the perspective of pragmatics. It will also explores the functions of hedges that how they influence communication. Hedges reflect the Politeness Principle, Cooperation Principle and Relevance Theory. Through the theoretical research and the analysis of the actual language materials, it is found that appropriate use of hedges can make language expression more tactful and polite and can enhance the flexibility of language expression and improve the expression efficiency of language. It can also express one’s emotions and show one’s personality. This paper reflects the practical value of hedges. It is necessary to know hedges as well as how to use them.
