MAn Analysis of C-E Translation of Chinese Lyrics from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence—A Case Study of Romance of Red Cliff by MelodyC2E_英语论文

Abstract
As an art form, songs can reflect the real life and spiritual world of human beings. Songs are also an important way of intercultural communication. Translating Chinese lyrics into English will undoubtedly help deepen the understanding of Chinese culture and promote the exchange and dissemination of Chinese and Western cultures. This thesis selects MelodyC2E’s Romance of Red Cliff as an example, and uses Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence to analyze the language, literature attributes, music attributes and explore the embodiment of Functional Equivalence in lyrics translation. This study finds that the three factors, language attributes, literature attributes and music attributes are crucial, because they directly affect the quality of the translated works and determine the receptors’ reaction.
