A Probe into the Translation of Buzzwords——from the Perspective of Eco-translatology_英语论文
摘要
随着当今社会的不断发展,流行词汇已经成为反映重大社会事件最直接、最流行的表达方式,因此流行词汇比一般的常用词更具时效性和流行性。而在中外交流中,汉语流行词汇成为时事新闻标题、被收录到英语词典中也屡见不鲜,由此也可以看出流行词汇在中外文化交流中的重要地位。本文将以生态翻译学理论作为依据,以流行词汇作为研究对象,主要目的在于分析流行词汇在汉译英过程中翻译策略的选择。此研究通过对流行词汇具体译例的分析得出结论:在流行词汇翻译的过程中,译者根据多维度适应与适应性选择原则,灵活地在语言维、文化维、交际维之间进行适应与选择。从语言维的角度出发,译者需要找出原语与译语之间的语言表达差异,通过选择相应的翻译策略来避免引起语义歧义等问题。从文化维的角度出发,译者需要在翻译过程中努力适应目标读者的文化背景及其文化体系,提高翻译的可读性。从交际维的角度出发,译者不仅要把译本的原意与文化内涵翻译准确,还要考虑交际意图是否清楚地传达给目标读者。

Abstract
With the development of society, buzzwords have become the most immediate and prevalent approach to reflect major events that become the center of social spotlight. Therefore, buzzwords are more fashionable and popular than common words.
During the communication between China and foreign countries, it is common that Chinese buzzwords become the headline of current news or they are included in English dictionaries. From it we realize that buzzwords play an important role in cultural communication. This study mainly analyzes how to select translation strategies during C-E translation of buzzwords within the theoretical framework of Eco-translatology. Based on some specific translated examples, we conclude that translators make selection and adaption during the process of translation, and they select and adapt flexibly from three different dimensions—linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension. From the perspective of linguistic dimension, translators need to discover differences between Source Language (SL) and Target Language (TL) and avoid semantic ambiguity. From the perspective of cultural dimension, translators need to adapt to target readers’ cultural background to increase readability. From the perspective of communicative dimension, translators should not only interpret its literal meaning and cultural connotations but also convey communicative intentions to target readers.
