摘要

话轮沉默作为一种非言语行为，对日常对话具有特殊的交际功能。本文以关联理论为理论基础，以电影《魂断蓝桥》中涵盖话轮沉默的对话为案例，采用定性研究方法，分析英语对话中的话轮沉默，探讨话轮沉默的信息意图、由信息意图所反映的交际意图以及语境效果等，说明关联理论这一语言学理论对理解话轮沉默具有较为突出的可行性。为英语对话的交际双方理解话轮沉默提供了认知语用框架，使之能更好地理解话轮沉默的含义，促进对话的顺利开展，避免交际失误。
