摘要 

本文利用模因论的观点探讨英语习语的翻译，使英语语言得到极大的丰富和发展。习语中的文化意象也是一种模因，模因翻译可以通过保留意象模因、改变意象模因和增减意象模因等方式来实现。从模因的角度来看，翻译活动是语言传播和复制模因的过程，是模因得以有效地进行跨时空、跨文化传播的有力手段，从而保证本国文化的进步性。笔者认为，模因论对习语翻译同样具有解释力。
