摘要

在二十世纪二十年代，美国作家菲茨杰拉德创作了他的不朽名作----《了不起的盖茨比》。小说描绘了从第一次世界大战后到经济危机爆发的十年间，即所谓的“爵士时代”期间，美国青年人追求理想及理想最终破灭的过程。本文从空间批评角度对《了不起的盖茨比》进行分析。空间批评可表述为空间理论在文学领域的话语实践，它是从二十世纪后半叶西方经济及政治领域进程中所呈现的“空间转向”发展而来的。本文结合空间批评理论，将不同社会层级的民众所处的地理、社会、心理空间进行比较分析，阐明了美国工业化进程中，阶级矛盾弥散于人们的居住环境、道德认知以及个人内在需要之中，造成了美国社会分裂、贫富加剧以及民众迷惘的社会现实。
