Abstract
Documentary is a kind of film and television art form that uses real life as the creative material, the real thing as the expression object and the real thing to stimulate people to think. The unique humanistic and cultural feature of the documentary distinguishes the translation of its subtitles from other film and television works.
Wild China is the first large-scale TV documentary to showcase China's wildlife and natural cultural landscape. It is also the first joint production of CCTV and BBC's works. Its subtitle translation has special research significance and research significance and value. This article will select the subtitles of the Wild China and its official translation as the research object. From the perspective of Nida's functional equivalence theory, this paper discusses how the documentary subtitles are translated according to the functional equivalence theory.
