摘要

明清时期是中国古代小说发展的高峰期，这一时期涌现出许多脍炙人口的长篇小说，而这些长篇小说大都具有一个共同的特点：小说每一回合的开头，都有词句对仗工整、前后相衡的小标题，而这些小标题就是章回体小说的回目。章回体小说的回目标题是一种特殊的语言形式，由于回目标题所处的特殊位置和独具的功能，回目标题统领着某一回合的大致内容，具有“导入”的功能。《水浒传》作为四大名著之一，具有独特的语言魅力和文化价值，是中华文化的杰出代表。All Men Are Brothers作为《水浒传》的首个全英译本，也是美国女作家赛珍珠唯一译作，在中外文学史上的地位更是值得深入研究。

通过对赛珍珠译本All Men Are Brothers回目标题译文的研究，了解赛译版本所用的方法和技巧，从中体会如何做到再现中华文化进行跨文化交流。通过对所用修辞的探究与剖析，试图找出回目标题翻译的特点，并在此基础上寻求在翻译回目标题时，如何兼顾形美和意美，如何做到用最少的语言传递最充分的信息。
