A Comparative Study of Translation Strategies in Kuang Ren Ri Ji——from the Perspective of Point of View_英语论文

摘要

作为中国近代文学史中最早的白话文小说，《狂人日记》在诸多方面都具有深远的影响。许多早先的研究者更倾向于研究小说的主题，抑或是它作为白话文的文体特征，但少有研究者选择从小说叙事视角这一大亮点进行研究。叙事视角对故事的展开和阅读都有着重要影响，它甚至是叙述故事的本质因素。作为中国第一篇采用第一人称叙述的日记体小说，《狂人日记》的叙事视角在很大程度上影响了小说内容的展开与呈现。合理翻译叙事视角能更好地重现原文，加强外国读者对小说以及中国近代历史的理解。本文即从这一方面着手，对比《狂人日记》的两个英文译本中关于叙事视角的翻译效果，并总结出一些更加适宜的翻译策略，为其他译者在类似情况下翻译叙事视角提供可借鉴的方法。

本研究对《狂人日记》的两个英译本进行对比研究，分别是杨宪益与戴乃迭夫妇的译本和美国学者莱尔的译本。这两个译本均在国外获得较大肯定。本文主要通过文本分析和比较研究的方法来探索如何更加适宜地翻译叙事视角。在前两章对相关研究背景和研究所依据的框架介绍后，本文将按照里门-凯南的理论将叙事视角分为时间空间层面、心理层面和意识形态层面三方面，然后用三章的篇幅分别进行详述。在这三章中，本文将先简单介绍原文的叙事视角，然后在原文中摘取例子分别对两个译本中叙事视角的翻译策略及其产生的效果进行对比分析。最后，整合之前的文本对比分析，针对不同情况提出叙事视角的翻译方法以供其他译者以及研究人员参考。
