On the Cultural Connotations and Translation Strategies of Numbers_英语论文

摘要

数字在我们生活中被广泛使用，承载着许多信息。由于不同民族有不同的历史文化、语言习惯、宗教信仰等，他们对同一数字的使用和理解也有很大差异。数字并不只是代表数量的符号，它们背后总会有深刻的文化内涵。数字在中英文化中扎根范围之广、程度之深是不容我们忽视的。笔者从传统文化、重大事件、当代潮流、发音等影响数字内涵的因素出发，将一些常用数字分别置于汉语、英语两种语言背景中进行了细致分析，以便形成对比。此外，由于习语是语言的结晶与沉淀，分析过程中还结合了以习语为主的一些实例。后又引入了归化、异化翻译理论（策略），分别介绍了两者对应的适用条件，并且列举了数字翻译中的三种具体处理办法—保留原数字、替换原数字或省略数字。在对数字和文化间的关系进行深入研究后，基于跨文化交际的视角说明了当前翻译呈现的趋势并给出自己的建议，希望以此让译者在数字翻译方面有所启发。
