摘要

从1967年，格莱斯提出合作原则以来，越来越多的学者开始在合作原则的视角下，对文本内容进行分析研究。在使用语言的过程中，说话人并不仅仅是单纯地要表达语言成分和符号单位的静态意义，听话人通常要通过一系列心理推断，去理解说话人的实际意图判断会话的动态含义。该论文从语用学的合作原则入手，选取《了不起的盖茨比》这一经典著作中最精彩的片段，对人物对话进行分析。依据合作原则中的四原则：质量原则、数量原则、关联原则和方式原则，对小说中的人物对白中违反合作原则的情况进行整理分析。了解小说中的人物是如何通过违反合作原则传递会话含义；从中进一步分析了主要人物性格特点和内心世界；从整个分析研究的过程及结论去证实合作原则应用于文学作品是具有可行性的。另一方面，从会话交际层面，通过文本中合作原则的分析，为现实生活中人际交往和对话提供一定的借鉴。在不同的语境下，如何通过违反合作原则用更恰当的方式去表达出自己的想法和含意。此外，本文也印证了写作者可以在合作原则下，用会话的描写，塑造小说人物形象以及塑造人物间矛盾冲突的可能性和现实性。
