《老人与海》中桑提亚哥的硬汉形象

A Study of Santiago — A Code Hero in the Old Man and the Sea

摘要

欧内斯特・海明威（1899-1961）是美国20世纪著名作家，在世界文学界上享有很高名望。《老人与海》是一部描写人与大自然搏斗的小说,是海明威塑造硬汉形象的登顶之作。小说里的人物及主题传达了海明威式的硬汉形象――勇敢自信的化身。主人公桑提亚哥顽强的意志、乐观的精神是海明威笔下硬汉形象的典型。通过作品中老人的精神与命运，深刻刻画了作品的主题：“人并不是生来要给打败的，你尽可以把他消灭掉，可就是打不败他。” 本文是结合之前多位学者的不同见解再加上本人想法写成，主要是阐述桑地亚哥的硬汉精神。

Abstract

Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) is one of the most famous writer of the 20th century in the United States, enjoys a high reputation in the world of literature. The old man and the sea is a description of people fight with nature. The characters and themes in the novel convey the image of Hemingway's tough guy imagine - the incarnation of bravery and confidence. The hero with the spirit of optimism is Hemingway's classic image of tough guy. Through the spirit and destiny of the old man in the work, he profoundly portrays the theme of the work: Man is not born to be defeated, and you can destroy him but you can not beat him. This thesis is mainly combined with a number of scholars’ different views coupled with my own opinion, mainly to elaborate the tough guy imagine of Santiago.
