从苏姗巴斯奈特的文化翻译观看林语堂《生活的艺术》中的文化信息翻译

The Translation of Cultural Information in Lin Yutang's the Importance of Living in the Perspective of Susan Bassnett's Cultural Translation Theory

摘要

语言是文化的载体，而翻译，作为不同语言之间的桥梁，更紧密联系了两种文化。同时，译者作为翻译的主体，自身的文化身份也将对译文产生不可避免的特殊影响。

自上世纪80年代后期，文化批评和文化研究在西方学术理论界兴起，并逐步影响到翻译领域。广大翻译理论研究的学者开始从文化角度对翻译提出了各自见解，其中，以苏珊·巴斯奈特提出的“文化翻译”思想最具代表性。本文以林语堂英文著作《生活的艺术》中的文化信息翻译为例，分析在巴斯奈特的文化翻译观指导下，从读者角度和文化传输角度，分析文化信息的翻译策略。

Abstract

Language is the carrier of culture, while translation, being the bridge of different languages, has a close connection with cultures of two different regions. Meanwhile, the cultural identity of a translator, the main body of a translation work, also poses an individual effect on his translation.

Since late 1980s, cultural criticism and cultural studies started to gain its popularity in the Western academic world and further permeated into the translation field. As a result, a lot of scholars engaged in translation studies begins to put forward with their own thoughts in the perspective of culture. Among all these, the cultural translation theory of Susan Bassnett is of the most representative ones. This paper, based on Susan Bassnett’s cultural translation theory, attempts to analyze the translation method of cultural information in Lin Yutang’s work The Importance of Living, from the perspectives of readers and cultural transmission
