语言的经济性原则,亦称省力原则,存在任何语言中。它要求人们在能够完成交际的前提下，用较少的语言获得较大的交际效果。新闻标题，尤其体现语言经济性原则。本文从语言经济性原则视角，以英语网络报纸新闻为语料，探索其标题的词汇及语法特点，旨在揭示英语网络新闻标题经济性原则的各种表现形式。该研究有助于英语新闻从业者认识，把握这一原则，并且能够在英语新闻写作中将该原则准确地运用，从而使新闻作品脱颖而出。

Abstract

Economy Principle of language, also called Principle of Least Effort, is practically observed in every language. It requires that people use fewer words to acquire bigger communicative effects on the premise of a complete communication. The Economy Principle of language can be especially revealed in news headlines. In order to uncover assorted manifestations of Economy Principle of English net news headlines, this thesis explored their lexical and grammatical features from the perspective of Economy Principle. Meanwhile, this research can help English news practitioners grasp this principle and accurately apply it to English news writing, making their news work outstanding and competitive.
