Translation of Mo Yan’s Works and Their Chinese Cultural Transmission

摘要

中国文化“走出去”是国家战略，通过文学输出促使文化输出确是一个有效途径，也是国家一直努力实现的目标。然而由于语言文化差异，文学输出并不容易，它需要非常准确恰当翻译才能在译入语文化里得到强势传播，所以译介研究将非常有助于推进这项进程。在前人研究的基础上，本论文将理论研究与个案译介实例相结合，对《丰乳肥臀》葛浩文版英译本进行分析，以具体实例探索其翻译策略，继而研究其文化传播的途径与方法。以此探索中国文学“走出去”有效译介模式与策略。

Abstract

Chinese culture’s "going out" is a national strategy and it is indeed an effective way to promote cultural output through literary output, which is also the goal that the country has been trying to achieve. However, due to differences in language and culture, literature output is not easy. It requires a very accurate and appropriate translation to get strong communication in the target language culture, so translation research will be very helpful in advancing this project. On the basis of previous studies, this paper combines theoretical research with examples of translation cases. Goldblatt’s English versions of Mo Yan’s Big Breasts and Wide Hips will be analyzed under theoretical research and case studies so as to explore the translation strategies with specific examples, and then approaches and means of its cultural transmission are studied. Thus we can explore the effective translation mode and strategy of Chinese Literature "going out."
