Differences between Chinese and American Charity

摘要

随着经济的飞速发展，贫富差距进一步拉大，社会分配不公日益显现，慈善事业作为社会保障的重要组成部分，能够缩小社会的贫富差距，促进社会的稳定，因此党和国家以及社会各方越来越关注我国慈善事业的发展。在美国等发达国家，慈善事业的发展有着很长的历史，十分发达，但是在中国大陆，慈善事业还是一项新兴事业，在取得了积极成绩的同时仍面临许多问题，现代慈善理念的缺失，慈善组织的发育不良，以及政府参与慈善事业的角色定位不准等。中美两国慈善事业巨大的差距源于两国的文化差异、政府管理职能差异和慈善组织的结构差异。为了促进我国慈善事业的发展，本文介绍中美两国慈善事业的起源与发展，以及中美两国慈善事业发展的差距，然后从文化、管理、组织结构三个方面探究造成发展差距的原因，借鉴美国的成功经验以促进我国慈善事业的发展。

Abstract

With the rapid development of economy, the gap between the rich and the poor gradually widens and social injustice becomes more and more obvious. The whole society pays more attention to the development of charity in China because charity, as an important part of social security, can narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, and promote social stability. In America and other developed countries, charity has well developed with a long history. However, charity in China is an emerging industry. Although we have achieved encouraging results, there are a lot of problems we still have to face: lacking modern charity idea, less-developed charity organizations, the wrong role of government in charity and so on. The huge gap between American and Chinese charity is the result of cultural difference, different government management function and organization structures. So this paper intends to analyze and make an comparison between American and Chinese charity, so as to reach the conclusion which might help improve the development of Chinese charity.
