从《推销员之死》的译文对比研究看英剧汉译_英语论文

A Study on the Chinese Translation of English Dramas: With the Chinese Version of Death of a Salesman as an Example

摘要

戏剧作为一种舞台表演艺术，从古希腊时期演变至今，已经取得了累累硕果，涌现了大批优秀的剧作家。纵观中西方戏剧史，不乏璀璨的戏剧明星，然而，与其形成鲜明对比的是，戏剧翻译的发展却非常缓慢，不仅表现在同一作品翻译版本的鲜少，而且戏剧翻译的相关理论也是屈指可数。本文在充分对照The Death of the Salesman不同中文译本的基础上探讨在《推销员之死》这一剧本的翻译过程中所使用的翻译策略、方法和视角；指出了戏剧翻译的策略、方法及视角的特点，并借助“文学翻译”与“翻译文学”的区别，引申至“戏剧翻译”与“翻译戏剧”的区分，论述新文化运动之后从“戏剧翻译”到“翻译戏剧”对中国现代戏剧的巨大影响。文章最后提出中国传统戏剧借助有效翻译走向世界的设想和基本策略。

Abstract

Drama, as a stage performance, has a long history since the ancient Greek times with enormous playwrights and works have been emerging. Throughout the history of Chinese and western drama, there have been plenty of brilliant works though, translations of drama are quite fewer than they should be. It can be showed not only in the quantity of translations, but also in the rareness of theories of drama translation. This paper studies firstly the strategies, approaches and perspectives of translations, pointing out the features of these approaches. In the light of the distinction between the two terms of “literature translation” and “translated literature”, we put forth the terms of “drama translation” and “translated drama”, and discuss the great influence that drama has exerted on Chinese dramas since the New Culture Movement. In the end of the paper, we made a proposal that traditional Chinese drama could be widespread in the world by means of translation.
