《京华烟云》中文化负载词的翻译策略研究

On Translation Strategies of Culture-loaded Words in Moment in Peking

摘要: 文化负载词作为文化的载体，是指反映民族文化特征的词、词组或习语。文化负载词体现了一个民族的鲜明个性，对于民族文化走向世界具有重要传播作用。在“中国文化走出去”大背景下，对中国文化的翻译研究，尤其是对文学著作中文化负载词的翻译研究，成为国内外学者关注的热点。林语堂的英文版小说《京华烟云》，在西方世界颇受关注，成功地向世界展现了博大精深的中国文化，并搭建起了中外文化交流沟通的桥梁。本文描述了《京华烟云》中文化负载词及其翻译，并比较了译者张振玉和郁飞对其中文化负载词的翻译策略。研究发现译者翻译策略的选择与译者的翻译背景、翻译目的以及个人源语文化意识密切相关。

Abstract: Culture-loaded words refer to words, phrases or idioms that are representatives of a certain culture. Not only can they reflect the uniqueness of a certain nation, but also play an essential role in spreading distinctive culture to the whole world. With the initiative on “Chinese Culture Going Out”, researches on Chinese culture translation, especially the translation of Culture-loaded Words in literature texts, have gained increasing popularity among scholars around the globe. The English novel written by Lin Yutang, Moment in Peking, is a remarkable success in Chinese and English literature history for the reason that this novel greatly showed Chinese profound culture and further served as a bridge of communication between China and foreign countries. This thesis describes culture-loaded words in Moment in Peking and their Chinese translations, and compares Zhang Zhenyu’s and Yu Fei’s translation strategies of culture-loaded words. It is found that the choice of different translation strategies closely results from the translator’s translation background, translation purpose and their own culture consciousness.
