The Application of Cooperative Principle in the Translation of English Talk Shows 

摘要

伴随着现代娱乐产业的发展，脱口秀，作为一种新兴的电视节目娱乐形式大量地涌现出来。格莱斯提出的合作原则被广泛应用于对话分析。虽然格莱斯的会话原则主要针对口头交谈，但由于翻译也是一种特殊形式的交流活动，该原则也同样适用于书面文章的翻译。本文通过一系列例子探讨合作原则在英文脱口秀中的应用，并针对翻译中遵守和违反合作原则的现象作了合理分析，以语用学方法分析英文脱口秀节目语言以及翻译中的弦外之音，从而帮助中国观众更好地理解和欣赏此类谈话类节目。

Abstract

With the development of the modern entertainment industry, talk show, as a brand-new form of TV program, is emerging at an amazing speed. The Cooperative Principle put forward by Grice, has been applied widely in conversational analysis. Although the Cooperative Principle is oriented to oral communication, it is applied to the translation of written articles for translation is a special kind of communication activity. This paper cites a variety of examples to study the application of Cooperative Principle in English talk shows as well as their translation. It is designed to fill up the gap in research of the English talk shows with the help of pragmatic theory, and aims to help the Chinese audience better understand and appreciate the English talk shows.
