这篇论文旨在分析《老人与海》中的人物硬汉形象分析。第一章、第二章和第三章分别通过对语言和行为、精神和身体以及外表和性格三个部分的描写来论述圣地亚哥的“硬汉形象”。在圣地亚哥背后的是人类永恒的自信、自尊和自强。一个人可以被消灭，但不能被打败。

Abstract

This paper analyzes the novel— The Old Man and the Sea. In the first, the second and the third chapters of the paper, I analyze the “tough guy” image of Santiago respectively in three aspects: words and action, spirit and body, appearance and character. In a word, this novel delivers us great spiritual shock. Behind Santiago are the eternal confidence, self-esteem and self-improvement. One can be destroyed but not defeated.
