摘  要

当读者们在阅读报纸的时候，首先映入他们眼帘的通常是显眼的新闻标题。新闻标题就是一行或几行字体偏大，但简洁的用来概括评论新闻内容的文字。它很简短但信息量十足，那译者怎样才能呈现给读者这样的标题呢？这就需要对新闻标题的特点有很好的了解，否则是很容易犯错并引起读者的误解。这篇论文通过措词、语法、修辞和标点符号分析了新闻标题的语言特征。然后通过这些特征讨论了英语新闻标题翻译技巧。
本论文采用了文献法、比较法、归纳法和引用法。通过这些方法呈现了更加地道的英语，从而使得英语学习者可以及时得到关于英语国家政治，经济，文化方面的准确消息。同时还能提升学习者学习现代英语的兴趣。总之，新闻标题是一个值得我们深入的领域。

Abstract

When reading a newspaper, readers often see the conspicuous news titles at first glance. Then what is a news title? A news title is a line or lines of concise words devised to summarize or make comments on the content of a newspaper story or article, usually printed in large or various types. It is short, usually within 10 words, but informative. In such short titles, translators have to overcome much difficulty, like culture gaps, in translating and present a nearly perfect news title to readers. It needs them to have a good command of news titles’ features, otherwise it is easy to make mistakes and lead to misunderstandings. For example, using initials, if the translators don’t know this feature of News titles, it’s difficult for them to translate. This paper analyzes news title’s linguistic features through diction, grammar, rhetoric and punctuation. Based on its features discuss English news title’s translation skills like literal translation, free translation, omission and addition. The considerations in translation will also be clarified.
Documental method, comparative method, inductive method and citing method are adopted in the paper. The purpose of this paper is to present the translation skills of English news headline and make the translation more idiomatic and proper. As a result, English learners can get more accurate information in politics, culture and economy about English speaking countries in time. In the same time, learners can improve their interests in learning present-day English and keep pace with times. All in all, news headline is an area worthwhile for us to go deep into.

1 Introduction
News happened everyday both home and abroad and gets transmitted through varieties of modern media, such as newspaper, radio, television, the Internet and so on. News headline appears on the top of every piece of news and always in big and overstriking style. When we pass by a newsstand, we will have a glimpse of those newspapers which are displayed for sale. For this account, the translator plays an important role in translating foreign news.
