摘　要

隐喻作为一种常见的修辞手法，其用词或词组替代事物或概念起着替代作用。隐喻亦是一种根本的思想方式，也就是说，通常隐喻是人类思想及活动的概念体系。随着经济发展，隐喻与人类生活紧密相连，在金融，经济方面广泛使用也引起了语言学家的关注。因此本文旨在了解隐喻特性，理论发展并整理金融英语语篇中隐喻的翻译策略。隐喻理论发展有传统隐喻，互动理论及概念隐喻。翻译策略有直译法，意译法，译成明喻，译成隐喻。总之，隐喻在金融英语中广泛使用说明它在金融，经济领域的重要地位，因此掌握隐喻翻译策略尤其重要。再者，隐喻在语言学，交流，金融，政治等方面中的重要地位将引发人们的关注。

Abstract

As a general rhetorical device, metaphor is a way of using a words or a phrase to manifest one object or one concept serves as the substitution of another object or concept. Metaphor is also the primary way of thinking. In other words, metaphor is the ordinary conceptual system for normal thinking and behavior in human beings’ normal life. With the development of finance and economy, metaphor is closely integrated in man’s daily life. Metaphor is in the proliferation in the finance and economy areas, which arouses the focus of the linguists. Therefore, this paper aims to have a general comprehension to characteristics of metaphor, metaphor theories and find out several principles and strategies on metaphor translation in financial English discourse. The development of metaphor theories can mainly consist of three parts: the tradition metaphor, interaction metaphor and the conceptual metaphor. The translation strategies on metaphor can be composed of literal translation, liberal translation, converting metaphor to simile and converting metaphor to metaphor and so on. In conclusion, metaphor is in the proliferation. It means metaphor is exactly crucial in the finance and economy, which also means the strategies are essential to the comprehension of metaphor in the financial English discourse. Moreover, the tendency of metaphor development could take a surprise attack on people’s mind for attraction, or even for the powerful status in the language, communication, finance, politics and every field through people’s daily activities.

1 Introduction
1.1 Aims of the study
Saussure, the earlier of modern linguists, manifests that language is a combination of signs, or a combination of form and meaning. As a kind of the general figure of speeches, metaphor is a way of using one word or one phrase to manifest one object or one concept serves as the substitution of another object or concept. Moreover, it is also the primary way of thinking. In other words, metaphor is the ordinary conceptual system for normal thinking and behavior in human beings’ daily life. Thousands of English words are used for metaphorical meaning. Therefore, metaphor is irreplaceable to human language and cognition, and metaphor is in the proliferation in literature and poems, especially is welcomed in financial English discourse.
