Abstract
International publicity translation serves as a leading role to build national image for a country and enhances its voice in the international community. Yet considerable amount of translation errors in international publicity translation hinders the communication effects as well as harms China’s national image. Therefore, on the basis of existent translation theories applicable to international publicity translation, this thesis aims at analyzing errors in specific international publicity translation texts from the perspective of China’s national image building and international communication enhancing as well as putting forward certain countermeasures, in hopes of drawing learner’s attention to the errors in international publicity translation and giving instructive references to this significant branch of translation studies and practices.

摘 要
外宣翻译对国家形象的塑造和国际社会话语权的提高起着主导作用。然而,外宣翻译中错误百出的现象不仅达不到应有的宣传效果,反而损害了中国国家形象。因此,本文在已有的可适用于外宣翻译研究的翻译理论基础上,从中国国家形象塑造和加强对外交流的视角,对具体的外宣翻译文本中的误译现象进行分析,并提出相应对策。希望引起读者对外宣翻译中误译现象的重视,并为这个重要的翻译研究和实践领域提供有益的参考和借鉴。

1 Introduction
After entering a new century, Sino-foreign cultural exchanges grow increasingly frequent and abundant, ranging from government documents and regional economic and trade symposium to public signs, advertisements, television, broadcast, newspaper, book, journal and Internet. During the process of Chinese culture openings, which facilitates the development of human civilization and social progress, international publicity translation plays a vital role. Nevertheless, a considerable amount of inferior international publicity translation has impeded this process, making it rather difficult to get to know China and even leading to misunderstanding. In order to avoid those bad consequences, a study on errors in international publicity translation is of crucial importance.
