Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: The business contract translation is a legal text translation. It is very vital to translate the contract terms accurately, so we must pay more attention to the translation of contract terms. This article through the introduction of the basic knowledge of contract and translation to point out the two main reasons caused the inaccurate translation, which include two aspects: first, the lack of stylistic awareness; second, the absence of professional knowledge. In order to make the target language correspond with the original meaning of content, we should have the knowledge both the translation and the business contracts. About the knowledge of business contracts, we should know how to translate some words firstly, such as archaic words and synonyms. So the study will explain how to translate the archaic words and synonyms.

摘要：英语商务合同翻译属于一种正式文本的翻译，商务合同词语的正确翻译至关重要。本文从翻译与合同的基本知识入手，指出导致合同翻译不准确的两个主要原因：一是缺少商务文体意识；二是缺少专业知识，本文以某些词语为例重点讨论如何正确翻译英语商务合同中的古体词和近义词，从而在翻译过程中使目标语言与原文的意思尽可能一致。

1. Literature Review and Theoretical Framework
With the rapid development of China’s foreign trade and the increasing foreign economic activities, the international business contracts are used more and more widely. As a business contract is signed between parties of different countries with different languages, so it often needs to be translated into another needed language. In order to reflect the principle of reciprocity, the translation of business contract has become more and more important.
Contract translation is a specific legal text translation. From the perspective of international business communication, the study of contract translation is an important part of language study of  the international business contract. Since 1990s, many scholars at home and abroad have done a lot about translation of business contracts. The study of the business contract's language character and translation method is always the highlight of business contract translation. The scholars mainly focused on aspects of lexical features and syntactic analysis. Xu Guoxin took the instances among the business contract translation to analyze pragmatic analysis of the contracts’ adverb and method of translation.Then, he and Sun Shengmao introduced  the special usage and typical abuse of “shall” in business contract. Xia Kangming comprehensively analyzed and elaborated the translation of date, amount and numbers as well as some fixed sentence patterns. Liao Ying and MO Zaishu pointed out that the characteristics of the contract words can be summarized into three aspects: first, often using archaic words and the second is the more use of parallel synonyms and words, in order to improve accuracy.
