Abstract

Film is one of the major entertainments of the people today. Dubbing and subtitling are two best-known and most widespread forms of audiovisual translation in China. People choose the one that they suit best on the basis of their own needs. Generally speaking, those who are less educated, i.e. children and the old etc. prefer watching dubbed films. Skopos theory holds that any action exists with a purpose behind it which in turn determines the process. And it gives two approaches of translation: documentary and instrumental. As the dubbed movies are to cater to those who are relatively old and less educated, the translators should in most cases use instrumental translation approach to localize the information in the movie to serve a better comprehension of the audiences; and in some cases when it is necessary, or even inevitable, use the documentary translation approach. Besides, as film is an audiovisual form of entertainment, the translators should pay attention to the integration of the motion and the sound, keeping the final version perfect, accomplishing their responsibility to the audiences.

摘要

现今中国，引进外国大片后，总要用两种方法先进行处理。一种是配音，另一种是字幕。文化水平相对不高的观众，如老人或小朋友，都会选择观看配音电影。翻译“目的论”认为，翻译行为所要达到的目的决定翻译的方法与翻译的整个过程，并提出两种翻译方法。所以，在电影配音翻译中，为了更好的考虑到此类特定观众的需要和期待，根据翻译“目的论”，译者应在大多数情况下采用归化的翻译策略，将电影传递的信息以观众最熟悉的方式表达出来。而在另一些必要的情况下，有时甚至不可避免的，采取记录式的翻译方法。同时，译者必须将电影画面与声音相结合进行翻译，以制作出适合此类人群观看的译制片。总而言之，根据目的论，在进行配音翻译时，译者首先需着重考虑预期观众的需要，这样才能做出更好的，符合人们要求的译制片。

1. Introduction
    Movie is relatively a kind of new art form, which is improved along with the improvement of science. We can say that it is a significant outcome of the combination of science and art. Movies nowadays have become the most popular communications media, particularly due to its unique language form, i.e. audiovisual language. Also because of this, movie becomes one of the most popular ways to relax contemporarily. Do you still remember 2012 and Avater of the year 2009, and Alice in the Wonderland of the year 2010? All of these movies did quite well at the box office. China imports foreign movies every year. Before screening, these movies are to be processed first, either subtitled or dubbed. People can choose the form they like in a cinema.
