摘要

宋词，是诗歌的一种，因为兴盛于宋朝，故称宋词。宋词是用于合乐的歌词，是继唐诗以后又一种新的文学体裁。宋词是我国历史悠久的传统文化中的瑰宝奇葩，为了把中国的悠久文化传播到世界各地，所以绝对有必要把宋词翻译为各种语言，当然首当其冲的是作为世界通用语言的英语。然而因为宋词里面饱含了诗人的感情，而且为了使宋词在结构上美观，诗人们在语言上表达比较简约，这些都给翻译工作者带来了不小的问题。
本文主要是对前人对宋词的英译作品进行分析，致力于研究英译作品中的优点与不足。本文首先对宋词进行了一个简单的介绍，讲解了宋词的起源问题，宋词的结构形式，宋词的特点等。然后文章对现今的一些宋词的英译作品进行详细的分析，特别对宋词的词牌名的英译进行了讲解，并探讨整首词英译以后在内容上、感情上以及结构上的变化。最后文章以苏轼的《江城子》为例，在分析了苏轼所处的时代背景，苏轼个人在写这首词时的生活状态以后，把英译作品与原作进行对比，进一步分析宋词英译作品的特点。
本文研究的结论是在宋词的英译上，各种版本的英译作品对诗人的感情都有不同程度上的缺失。而就英译作品的结构而言，宋词合乐的性质也被磨灭殆尽了。所以要拥有更完美的宋词的英译作品，还需添加诗人感情及宋词的可唱性。

ABSTRACT

Ci poem is a kind of poems. It is called Ci poem because it was flourishing in Song dynasty. Ci poem is a kind of lyric. It is a new literary form in the Song dynasty. Ci poem is a curiosity of Chinese long historical culture. Chinese people must translate it to different languages to let the world know their culture. And they should first translate it into English because English is the most popular language in the world. However, since every Ci poem is full of poetic feeling, and the content is laconic to have a more beautiful form, it is hard to translate it into English.
This thesis mainly investigates former translations of Ci poems. And the aim of this thesis is to find virtue and shortcoming of these translations. At first, the thesis does a brief introduction of Ci poems. It introduces sources, frames and characteristics of Ci poems. Then the thesis investigates the translations in detail, especially the tune patterns. It talks about the difference in the contents, feelings and frames between the translations and the original works. At last, the thesis takes City on the river which was written by Su Shi as an example. The thesis analyses the historical background in which Su Shi lived. It also analyses the living state of Su Shi in this period. Then it makes a contrast between the translations and the original works. And at last the thesis discovers the characteristics of translations.
The conclusion of this thesis is that the feelings of poets are partly lost in almost every translation. And for the frames of Ci poems, the character of being lyrics for Ci poems also disappears. So if the translators want to have perfect translations, they should pay attention to the feelings of poets and the frames of Ci poems.
