摘要：

语法隐喻在中国古典诗歌中普遍存在，是中诗英译不可忽略的一步。诗歌的隐喻翻译是实现诗歌中意境表达的关键之一。本文从功能语法角度出发，简要介绍语法隐喻和中外翻译的研究现状，并运用韩礼德的语法隐喻理论，通过分析举出若干中诗翻译存在的实际问题(模糊性、文化词缺乏、翻译困难等)。认为使用直译、意译加解释和简化隐喻等解决方案，来对诗歌中的隐喻进行翻译，作者发现这些策略对隐喻翻译效果显著

Abstract：

The classical Chinese poetry is playing an important role in Chinese culture. The metaphor is a quite common element in Chinese poetry which has been a key step of translation of Chinese poetry. Metaphor is a key to the realization of conception of images. This thesis, from the perspective of functional grammar, introduces the translation status at home and abroad. Through the analysis of the practical translation and by applying Halliday's grammatical theories, this thesis summarizes several problems and provides some solutions to the problems, which are literal translation, free translation or explanation and metaphor simplification. The author finds such strategies are of great significance to the translation of poems.

1. Introduction
Chinese classical poetry is not only of great significance in Chinese culture but also attracts foreign culture. Poetry represents many aspects of nature, society and values. This kind of literary form which has made our Chinese people proud is still a big problem to the foreigners who do not know Chinese national culture well. Both the language itself and the cultural background are great obstacles for foreigners to overcome. They may feel frustrated and puzzled in the process of understanding these poems. The language of Poetry, which is filled with metaphors, is essentially metaphorical. In the verses of poetry, maybe a little word expresses abundant cultural associations. More applications of metaphor translation are discussed in this thesis. By analyzing some cases of translation from famous scholars, this thesis explores how to convey the far-reaching implication of Chinese poetry effectively.
This thesis, from the perspective of functional grammar, introduces the translation status at home and abroad. Through the analysis of practical translation cases this thesis summarizes several problems and provides some useful solutions to the problems. The main purpose of this thesis is to solve practical problems of translation such as obscurity in content and difficulty in each-word translation. By applying Halliday's grammatical theory, this thesis compares and contrasts some translation strategies to achieve an appropriate solution to the case translation.
