Abstract：

The aim of this paper is to make a comparative study of the differences in cultural connotation of animal words in order to find out the appropriate translation methods when translating the sentences with animal words. By exploring the reasons, results show that all Chinese and English like animals very much from ancient times to the present and people have given animals many different connotations, which will lead to the intercultural communicative barriers. This study thus provides empirical evidences that with the rapid development of economic globalization, it becomes very necessary for us to learn these differences of cultural connotation and the corresponding translation methods.

摘要：

本篇论文拟通过对比研究的方法分析动物词汇文化内涵的差异，并总结对带有动物词语的句子进行翻译时的合适的方法。 通过对造成这种差异的原因的分析，可以发现汉英人民自古以来就都非常喜爱动物，动物也已经被赋予了许多不同的文化内涵及意义。而这种动物词汇不同的文化内涵，极有可能造成跨文化交际障碍。随着经济全球化的快速发展，了解汉英动物词汇文化的内涵差异以及相应的翻译方法是非常有必要的。

1. Introduction
Chang2012（10））argued that animals are friends of human beings from ancient times. They are very important in people’s life. Many of them have become a kind of symbolism in people’s thinking. Animals of Chinese and English all have colorful cultural connotation. It is argued that both Chinese language and English language are very developed languages. There are abundant vocabularies, and many of them are related to animals. However, because of many differences of history，custom，geography, religion, aesthetic value orientation and social psychology. There are many different cultural connotations of animals between Chinese and English. Bao2002 (6) argued that the cultural origin of Chinese and English is different, the cultural connotation of words must be different, the semantic association of the same thing in the different cultural background can be different. As is known to all, the communication between Chinese and English is much closer with the rapid development of the economic globalization. In order o avoid the barriers in intercultural communication, it is very important for us to understand the differences of animal cultural connotation.
