Abstract:
The thesis is aimed at analyzing the strategies and methods of the Chinese specific words from cultural perspective. Firstly, the author gives definitions of the Chinese specific words and analyzes their sources and the uniqueness of culture, probes into several cultural elements which cause the vacancy of Chinese specific words. Then, the author puts forward several strategies and methods which contain domestication, foreignization, literal translation, transliteration, and free translation. Nowadays, Chinese culture has become the indispensible part of the global culture, so the primary task is to better spread and show it to the world. And Chinese specific words are one of the cultural products which perfectly reflect the extensiveness and profoundness of Chinese civilization. .

本文旨在探究文化因素下中国特色词汇的英译方法与策略。首先,作者对中国特色词汇的定义进行了界定,介绍了其来源和文化独特性,探讨了几种在英译中对中国特色词汇造成空缺的文化因素。然后,作者提出了两种策略:归化和异化,还有几种方法包括直译,音译,和意译。如今,中华文化已成为世界文化中不可或缺的一部分,所以当前的首要任务就是将中华文化更好的传播和展现给世界。而中国特色词汇是中国一项极具特色的文化产物,它完美的体现了中华文明的博大精深。

1. Introduction
1.1 Background Information
With the development of economy and cross-cultural communication, China, the great country with long history must spread its culture to the world. But how to let foreigners understand Chinese culture accurately is a big problem, which will bring great difficulties to translators and get more and more attention.
Chinese specific words are one of the typical examples of Chinese culture which obviously embody the origin and spirit of Chinese culture. Chinese specific words are unique and owned by one nation, so it is difficult to find equivalents in other cultures. When translating Chinese specific words into English, it should be under guide of the translation strategies and skills. Nowadays, many scholars have made researches on Chinese specific words from some perspectives of translation ethics, intercultural communication, skopos theory and functional equivalence theory.
