Abstract:

This paper gives a brief analysis of the images in the English translation of Li Bai’s poems, with the purpose to show the different emotions contained in those images, through a brief analysis of the translation with the conclusion that image is the main component of poetry, and it is an important clue to understand a poetry and its poetic structure. When people start to read a poem, he or she should first know what the images stand for in the poem then he or she could understand what the poet has implied and have a realization of the poet’s feelings. The image itself is a world where the writer and the reader can communicate with each other by heart. By learning the images, people shall seek deep inside the poet’s heart, and an analysis of Li Bai’s poems will help the readers find out people’s esthetic tendency and study the unique literature during Tang and Song Dynasty.

摘要：

本文通过对李白诗词英语译文中的意象进行分析，总结了李白诗歌意象在英译中的翻译，得出结论认为，为更好体现其诗词意象，结合当时的社会背景以及意象中所蕴含的个人感情的翻译会更好的体现出意象的独特意境。读者对诗歌的接受亦是从诗歌意象开始的，组织在诗歌中的意象，是诗人共同情感在深层意识中的积淀和传递。通过学习意象，读者将发掘诗人的内心深处，而对李白诗词的赏析将让读者了解到唐宋时期人们的审美倾向以及该时期的特有文学。

1. Introduction
This paper is mainly about the reflection of the images in the translation of Li Bai’s poems. In the first part, the author will talk about the definition and origin of poems’ images. Then the author will discuss the existence of images in Li Bai’s poems. After that, the author will focus on the analysis of some specific images in Li Bai’s poems. At last, the author shall have a general idea of those images in the translation. The reason why the translator has chosen Li Bai’s poems is that he is the greatest Romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty, and even was later hailed as a “poetic genius”（“诗仙”）. His poems have not only the typical romantic spirit, but also typical romantic features which are based on the image building, the material choosing, the genre selecting and the artistic techniques using. And in this paper, the author will give a brief introduction to the four images in the translation of his poems, namely, the sky, the moon, the wine and the water.
