Abstract

In the context of China’s rapid economic growth and booming international exchanges, the growing demands for high-level, pragmatic translation cannot be met through traditional translation which merely focuses on the fields of literature. With the reform and opening-up, translation theories from western countries are flooding into China, the majority of them belong to literary, while few of them are related to pragmatic translation. Thus the application of translation theories to English academic paper translation is rather rare, which in return will definitely hinder the academic exchange between cultures. So the translation of English academic paper is in bad need.
This report is based on the author’s translation practice of Globalization and English in Chinese Higher Education, which is written by Pro. Chang Junyue. It is an English academic paper concerning English education in the changing world, providing the experts with support for research in this field. The author chose three main parts of this paper as the original text. The report will discuss the features and styles of English academic paper, translation strategies used and reflection of “Xin”, “Da”, “Ya” in translating process. It is hoped that this report may give some enlightenment to those who translate such kind of profiles and documents.

摘要

随着中国经济的迅猛发展和国际交流的不断扩大，将目光仅仅围绕文学翻译领域已经无法满足人们对日益增长的高层次应用翻译的需求。改革开放之后，西方国家的翻译学说涌入中国，其中大部分是针对文学翻译，而关于应用翻译的学说却是少之又少。因此适用于英语学术论文翻译的理论更是稀少。而这无疑会对不同文化间的学术交流造成不利影响。由此可见，英语学术论文翻译正是我们今后该努力的方向。
本报告是作者基于对《全球化和中国高校英语教学》的翻译实践所完成的实践报告。原文由常俊越教授所写，是一篇关于在世界格局不断变化下英语教育现状的学术论文，其为研究英语教育领域的专家提供了理论支持。作者挑选了主要的三部分进行翻译。本报告将归纳英语学术论文的特点和风格，总结所用到的翻译技巧，以及翻译理论信达雅在翻译过程中的运用。希望能对翻译同类文本的译者们有所帮助和启发。
