Abstract: Movie is an effective and intuitive way of cross-cultural communication. Moreover, movie subtitles are able to help original work to rebuild movie images. Nowadays, with a rapid growth of the relation between China and western countries, movie subtitle translation has been concerned by more and more people. Therefore, the study on movie subtitle has become a trend. This paper is focused on analyzing movie subtitle translation from the angle of Skopos theory. The Skopos theory enables people to pay more attention to the language function as well as application intention. And the Skopos theory plays an important role in influencing translation practice profoundly. In addition, this paper also analyzes the domestication method, foreignizing method and concentrating method of the Skopos theory. To put it simply, this paper aims to provide truer theory basis for readers to promote the quality of movie subtitle translation.

摘  要：电影是一种直观且有效的跨文化交际方式。电影字幕有利于帮助重置原作电影形象。时下，随着中西经济文化的交流不断加深，电影字幕翻译已经为越来越多的人所关注，对其研究也越来越受关注。目的论使人们更加注重语言的功能及应用意图，其在翻译工作中的影响也举足轻重。本文主要从目的论的角度浅析电影字幕翻译，并对目的论中的归化策略、异化策略、浓缩策略略作分析。本文旨在为译者提供更为有力的理论依据以便提高电影字幕翻译的质量。

With the evolution of economic globalization, relation between China and western countries is in a rapid growth. As an intuitive and effective way, movie plays a significant role in cross-cultural communication. Subtitles can help to restore the original image of the movie. Consequently, subtitle translation is becoming increasingly important and attracts more attentions with high quality, especially in western countries. Studies on subtitle translation have a long history and a wide range, thus standards have been established in terms of translation strategies and quality control. In contrast, domestic research on this filed is still lagging behind. With the large production of subtitle translation, the problems of inferior products have become increasingly serious, due to lack of serious attention. Few of domestic subtitle translation can be totally integrated and persuasive. Those problems such as the low level of academic research, unqualified translators have not been solved properly.
