Abstract

With the gradual development of the opening of the China, more and more English films entre the market of China. The film is not only the entertainment in daily life but also a way to promote cultural communication. When people watch a foreign film, they will first pay attention to the film title. Thus, the importance of film title translation is self-evident. This thesis analyses the differences of the film title translation in Mainland China and Hong Kong from three perspectives, namely, the perspective of form and meaning, the perspective of domestication and foreignization and the perspective of Cantonese and Mandarin. Besides, the thesis also probes into causes from the perspectives of language, history, economy and politics.

随着中国对外开放的逐步深化，越来越多的英文电影进驻中国市场。电影不仅仅是日常的娱乐，更是促进文化交流的一种方式。当人们观看一部外国电影时首先注意到的是电影片名。电影片名翻译的重要性不言而喻。本文将从三个方面探讨中国大陆与香港在英文电影片名翻译方面的差异，即形式和意义，归化和异化以及粤语和普通话，并从语言、历史、经济和政治角度分析原因。
