摘要：

本文总结出《边城》一书在国内外的地位、出现的所有译本以及其影响力。概括了戴乃迭和白英两位译者的基本情况，并对其两英译本在国内研究的进展情况进行了整理。归纳出翻译重要理论目的论的概念与原则，指出了目的论运用在文学翻译上的指导意义。在此基础上，从词语的选择、増译减译的处理、注释的运用及艺术再现等方面找出了两《边城》英译本中存在的差异，并且在翻译目的论的指导下进行了分析对比，研究了译本的预期功能，译入语的受众和译本产生的动机等，从而得出两个《边城》英译本都满足各自翻译目的的结论。

Abstract：

This paper collects all versions of Bian Cheng’ s translation at present and analyses their status and influence at home and abroad. This paper generalizes the basic information of Gladys Yang and Chingti, discusses the domestic research progress in their translation versions of Bian Cheng from Chinese into English, as well as studies the concepts of Skopos theory in translation and points out the importance of Skopos theory to literary translation. On this basis, this essay illustrates the diversities between these two versions from aspects of selection of words, usage of addition and reduction, application of annotations as well as artistic reproduction. Under the Skopos theory, it discusses two versions’ expected function, target language readers and translation motive etc. and concludes that both versions of Bian Cheng meet their respective translation purpose.
