摘 要
词汇教学是中学英语教学中的一个关键。正如语言学家威尔金斯在他的书—《语言教学中的语言学》中提到,没有语法,能表达的内容很少;没有词汇,则什么都表达不了。词汇教学是英语教学中不可或缺的一部分。一些中学英语教师在讲授词汇时,把词汇从上下文中脱离出来,忽略了科学的学习规律。因此,这篇文章简单的分析了中学的词汇教学以及词汇教学中的一些误区,接着就这些不足的地方提出了一些建议,如当我们在教授词汇时,老师应该努力使学生把单词和概念联系起来,通过可视的辅助工具,翻译,词汇的背景信息,分类,同义词,近义词,从上下文中猜测词义等等各种有效方法。老师务必使学生通过拼写,理解,回顾等方法记住单词。

Abstract
Vocabulary teaching is one of the key links in the middle school English teaching. Vocabulary is the basic unit of a language, and is the building materials of a language. The function of the English vocabulary, with diversified meanings and even polysemy, should be attached great importance in foreign language teaching. As D.A. Wilkins in his book—Linguistics in Language Teaching, said, without grammar very little can be conveyed; without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed. Vocabulary teaching is an indispensable part of English curriculum. Words learning is rather important. We can not study English without vocabulary. The strategy of vocabulary teaching in junior high must be improved by our teachers. But some traditional vocabulary-teaching methods seem to isolate the words from the context or break away from the scientific rules. They ignore the proper ways to teach vocabulary. So, this article analyzes briefly the current situation of the vocabulary teaching in middle school and some mistaken ideas and doings in English vocabulary teaching. When teaching vocabulary, the teacher should try to make students connect words and concepts by means of visual-aids, translation, words background information, paraphrasing, categories, synonyms, antonyms, guessing the meanings of words from contexts and so on. Besides that, the teacher also must help his students to memorize English words by spelling, comprehension and review. All of these should be done by our teachers. We need to do the best in English vocabulary learning for the students in junior high.

1 Introduction
A famous scholar Jiang Cong (2012:98-113) said, “Without grammar, very little can be conveyed; without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed ”.
One linguist also said, a student who learns a second foreign language, he can’t convey his idea, if he masters very few words, no matter how well he learns the grammar or how nice his pronunciation is. Therefore, one’s mind and ability of communication is influenced directly by his vocabulary he has learned. As an important component in learning English, vocabulary is especially important to improve students’ English. To master a lot of words is the basic in learning English. However, in middle school, there are a lot of problems. Teachers just emphasize the spelling and the meaning in dictionary, but ignore the match, usage, inner meaning and grammatical characteristics. And the methods teachers use to teach vocabulary is not proper. Or teachers don’t have enough theory or experience. This phenomenon causes students’ lack of ability in grasping the words.
