Abstract:

Cognitive linguistics, developed rapidly in 1980s and 1990s, has become one of the   major schools of emerging linguistics. Conceptual metaphor has an extremely important status in cognitive linguistics. It contains rhetorical metaphor and poetic metaphor, reflected in people’s language, thought and actions, and it even permeates in our daily life. Metaphorical competence parallels with language ability and communication ability, metaphor is no longer a simple rhetorical device, it is also studied from cognitive perspective. There is much information about domestic study of conceptual metaphor. In order to grasp Lakoff and his theory accurately, this paper seeks to restore the original appearance of the authors and his works. Advanced English lesson is a backbone course of English majors, which aims to help students’ English level have a qualitative leap, and vocabulary and the understanding of discourse in the course of learning plays an important role. The paper tries to analyze metaphor in Advanced English by using the new achievements of cognitive linguistics – conceptual metaphor, in which the relationship between metaphor and thinking, the relationship between metaphor and vocabulary and discourse and the cognitive significance of metaphorical vocabulary and discourse are discussed. It’s meaningful to guide students to understand and use English vocabulary and discuss and cultivate their metaphorical competence.

摘要:

认知语言学在 20 世纪 80、90 年代开始迅猛发展,现在已然成为新兴语言学的主要流派之一。概念隐喻在认知语言学的研究中占有极其重要的地位,它的研究不仅仅局囿于修辞隐喻和诗学隐喻的层面上,它渗透于人们日常生活的点点滴滴,体现在人们的语言、思维和行动中。隐喻能力同语言能力与交际能力比较,隐喻不再仅仅是一种修辞,更上升到“认知”的角度。国内研究概念隐喻的资料很多,为了更准确的把握莱考夫及他的理论,本文力求还原作者及作品的真实原貌。《高级英语》课是英语专业班级的一门主干课程,其目的是为了帮助学生的英语水平有一个质的飞跃,而词汇和语篇理解在该课程的教学中起着举足轻重的作用。本文运用认知语言学的新成果—─概念隐喻,探讨了隐喻与思维、隐喻与词汇、语篇的关系以及高级英语课中隐喻词汇和语篇的认知意义,这对于指导学生准确地理解并使用英语词汇以及隐喻能力的形成无疑具有积极的指导意义。
