Abstract
Metaphor is pervasive in life. In traditional theory, metaphor is regarded as a figure of speech or a deviant use of language in poetry and other styles. In the conceptual metaphor theory, metaphor is a means for people to recognize the world and express the feelings, which offers a better explanation for the innovation and development of language. Throughout the language learning system, vocabulary acquisition plays an important role. However, influenced by traditional learning habits and way of thinking, English learners have difficulty in learning vocabulary. Metaphor is the essence of language. Therefore conceptual metaphor has a close connection with vocabulary. After introducing the definition, working mechanism, main features and classification of conceptual metaphor theory, the thesis mainly discusses and analyzes the application of conceptual metaphor to polysemy, idioms, prepositions and word collocation and also proposes the feasible learning strategies. Based on this, learners can improve the efficiency of vocabulary learning.

摘要
隐喻是一种普遍现象,在生活中无处不在。隐喻研究源远流长,传统理论认为隐喻是语言的一种修辞,是一种偏离现象,运用于诗歌和其它文体。然而,认知领域的研究为我们开拓了一个全新的视角,提出了概念隐喻理论。该理论认为隐喻是人类认知世界和表达思想感情的工具,为语言的创新和发展提供了更好的解释。词汇习得贯穿语言学习系统,在语言学习中发挥重要作用,但大多数英语学习者受到传统学习习惯和思维的影响,词汇一直是他们难以突破的瓶颈。而语言的本质是隐喻,因此概念隐喻与词汇有着密切联系。本文在介绍概念隐喻的定义、运作机制、主要特征和分类,重点探讨和分析其在英语多义词、习语、介词和词语搭配中的应用,并提出可行的词汇学习策略。在此基础上,学习者可以加强记忆词汇和提高词汇涵义扩展的能力,从而极大地提高词汇学习的效率。
