摘要

   在学生英语专业水平欠缺的班级中,建议老师应该适当地运用母语去帮助学生学习英语词汇。本文论述了由于老师和学生英语专业水平欠缺的条件下进行英语教学的挑战性,尤其是英语作为一门外语来说。但是,一些学者提出适当的母语运用可以提高学生的英语学习水平。在小学英语词汇教学中是否应该运用母语这一问题引起争论。这也是本文的研究重点。本文对来自三个不同学校的三个班级进行访谈和观察,这三个学校分别采用三种不同的教学模式。获得了一些数据,发现了一些问题并给出了相应的建议。

Abstract

In English learning classroom where students’ foreign language proficiency has still needed to be improved, teachers have been suggested to use mother tongue valuably to assist students in learning English vocabularies. This paper argues the challenges confronted by teachers and students, particularly in English as a foreign language. Nonetheless, some researchers have also warranted ‘judicious’ and ‘principled’ use of mother tongue so that English learning can be facilitated. The question thus remains whether teachers should use the mother tongue in teaching English vocabularies in primary schools or not. This paper carries some data from three classes from three different schools which adopt three different language education methods in Fujian province through interview and observation. At the same time, the author took notes and made a calculation then gave some suggestions about the problems found during the investigation.
