摘　要

 《老友记》是美国最受欢迎的情景喜剧之一。它从1994年一直拍到2004年。在这10年年间，《老友记》掀起了国内外的收视狂潮，获得了国内外观众的一致好评。《老友记》以幽默的语言和夸张的表演讲述了美国六个不同背景，性格的年轻男女，在10年共处生活中的点点滴滴。该剧以爱情和友情为主线，剧中主人公在10年间经历了人生的起伏，工作的变动，情感的纠缠，婚姻的失败。他们在成长，成熟的同时，友情和爱情也得到了升华。《老友记》反映了一群美国普通年轻男女的生活经历，它就像一面镜子折射出了当下美国年轻人的，友情观和爱情观。因此本论文旨在运用比较，举例子的方法研究《老友记》中主人翁所体现的情感，并以此来更进一步的了解时下美国人的友情观和爱情观，从而对美国的文化有更进一步了解。

Abstract


Friends is one of the most popular sitcoms in America. It was originally broadcast in 1994 and lasted for entire 10 years. Friends won many positive remarks in America as well as in the rest of the world and have attained remarkable audience rating.Friends tells stories of six single young Americans with different family backgrounds, characters, jobs in humorous language and with exaggerated performance. Love and friendship functions as the mainline of the ten-season-long sitcom. The plots are pushed forward as the six Americans experience ups and downs of life, emotional entanglement, marriage, failure of marriage, changes of jobs.
Their love and friendship accumulate as they become more and more mature as times goes by. Friends vividly reflects the ordinary American’s life experiences, love and friendship. It also mirrors contemporary young Americans’ attitudes toward love and friendship. Thus, the thesis aims via Friends to have a deeper understanding of contemporary Americans’ attitudes towards love and friendship and American’s cultural patterns behind it using the writing method of making comparison and making examples.

1 Introduction
Friends is a well-known American Situation Comedies. It was originally broadcast in 1994 and last for 10 years.During which time it has gained many positive remarks, becoming one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. Friends follows the lives of 6 single Americans with different characters, backgrounds, values in New York. They are Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Rose and Chandler. Rachel is a lovable girl from a rich family; Monica is a girl who is always eager to excel and manipulate others; Phoebe is a charming but somehow eccentric girl; Joey is a naive and childish playboy; Rose is a spoony and upright archaeologist, while Chandler is a facetious boy. It is just the six ordinary young American people’s distinctive personalities, colorful life experiences and  humorous languages that appeals millions of viewers both at home and abroad.
