Abstract

Pragmatic ambivalence penetrates every corner of family daily communications and it has been one of the important communication strategies of family members. Pragmatic ambivalence helps family members express their communicative intentions more effectively. This paper introduces different types of pragmatic ambivalence in daily family communications, namely pragmatic multivalence, pragmatic bivalence, and conditional bivalent illocutionary act. Based on this introduction, it further analyzes the main functions of pragmatic ambivalence and the enlightenment for the future harmonious family life.

摘要

  在家庭日常言语交际中，语用模糊现象非常普遍，已成为家庭成员重要的交际策略之一，从而更有效地表达自己的交际意图。本文介绍了在家庭日常言语交际中语用模糊的不同类别，分别为多重语用模糊、双重语用模糊、条件性的双重言外行为，并在此基础上分析了语用模糊的主要功能及其对今后和谐家庭生活的启示。

1.    Introduction
     Ambivalence is a linguistic term which is relative to the accuracy in the field of linguistics. Pragmatic ambivalence is produced in the practice of using the linguistic ambivalence. When people communicate with others, they usually adopt words of ambivalence for the purpose of creating humor, expressing euphemism, or showing politeness, making pragmatic ambivalence an integrated part of linguistic phenomenon.
Communications can be divided into several categories according to different contexts such as the daily communications and business communications. However, from cradle to grave, no one can be isolated from the communications in family life where pragmatic ambivalence penetrates all the time. Family communications are so widely existing that they play an essential role in affecting people’s, especially children’s growth, including both physical and psychological growth.
