摘要

个人主义是西方的一种政治哲学和社会哲学，其主要内容是相信每个人都具有价值，高度重视个人自由，强调个人的自我支配、自我控制和自我发展。美国独特的历史文化造就了美国人特有的个人主义情结。个人主义构成了美国文化模式的基本特征和主要内容，它作为一种思想意识形态渗入到了美国社会的方方面面。本文拟从《老友记》出发,分析个人主义在美国人日常生活中的具体体现，以期帮助我们深刻理解美国社会和文化的本质。

Abstract

“Individualism” is a political philosophy and social philosophy of western society, which emphasizes the personal self-domination, self-control and self-development. It focuses on individual value and attaches great importance to individual liberty. The special historical culture of America creates its particular individualism complex. As an ideology, individualism pervades virtually every aspect of American life and forms the basic character and main content of American culture pattern. This paper explores the embodiment of individualism in Americans’ daily lives through a detailed analysis of the popular TV series Friends. We hope that this will help us comprehend the essence of American society and culture deeply.
