Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: Ezra Pound is the founder of innovation movement of American modernistic poetry and leader in its earlier stage. His Cathay was published in April, 1915. This painstaking masterpiece won high evaluation and praise since it was published, and has become one of the most influential English translation versions of Chinese poetry in western poetics. It plays an immeasurable role in the transmission of Chinese poetry, or even Chinese culture in the west, and has promoted the development of American New Poetry Movement. Pound gains much inspiration from painting techniques and artistic conception in ancient China, and finds the most concise but expressive example of Imagery Vorticist theory from the pictographic characteristics of Chinese characters. Many poetic works of Pound are actually the reprocessing of certain ancient poems in China on the basis of translation, from which Pound has assimilated much about the ancient Chinese culture and classical literature.

摘要：美国现代主义诗歌革新运动的创始人和前期领袖艾兹拉•庞德的《神州集》于1915年4月出版了。这部倾注了庞德巨大心血的力作一经问世，便受到了很高的评价和赞誉，成为了在西方诗坛影响最大的一部中国诗歌英译集，为中国诗歌甚至中国文化在西方的传播起到了不可估量的作用，同时也推动了美国新诗运动的发展。庞德从中国古代绘画的技法和意境的处理上获得了许多灵感，并从中国汉字的象形性特征中找到了对意象漩涡理论的最简洁也最富有表现力的范例。庞德的许多诗歌作品实际上是在翻译的基础上对某些中国古代诗作的再加工，从中可以看到庞德对中国古代文化和古典文学的多方面借鉴。

1. Introduction
1.1 Ezra Pound and His Exoterica
   Ezra Pound is a famous American poet and representative of Imagism. Eliot and Pound are both the leading figures in the late symbolist poetry. Ezra Pound boasts quite a lot of writings all through his lifetime and the major works are Masks, Ripostes, Lustra, Hugh Selwyn Mauberley and The Cantos, etc. Besides, he has also written a few literature critics. "The strange thing is that Ezra was so inexpressibly kind to anyone who he felt had the faintest spark of submerged talent" recalled H.D. " His early poems followed the imagist theory to express things with accurate, distinct and implicative images, which are concise, popular and rich in fluency and beauty of music. Some of his poems have attacked the capitalist system to a certain extent and satirized the erosion of literature and art from commercialization tendency and philistinism, reflecting the menacing situation of intellectuals at that time.
