从浪漫主义角度分析爱伦·坡的《乌鸦》_英语论文

On Romanticism in Edgar Allan Poe’s the Raven

摘要

埃德加·爱伦·坡是美国文学史上最具争议的作家之一。身为西方浪漫主义时期重要代表人物，他为世人创作许多优秀的诗歌、小说。《乌鸦》是其在诗歌方面的代表作。

本文从浪漫主义文学的角度入手，结合坡的身世背景以及经历，以其成名诗《乌鸦》为例，研究了埃德加·爱伦·坡作品的浪漫主义特色。首先阐述了浪漫主义文学的发展以及国内外对埃德加·爱伦·坡的研究，为后文做铺垫。其次，简述浪漫主义文学特征。浪漫主义文学在政治上反对封建制度，不再刻意突出人的理性，而是深入发掘人类的感情世界，通过瑰丽的想象和夸张的手法塑造特点鲜明的人物形象。在创作风格上，则以想象力丰富的构思和跌宕起伏的情节为主要特征。

因此，本文从主观性、表现手法、神话的应用、戏剧式的创作风格对《乌鸦》进行分析，以体现埃德加•爱伦•坡诗歌中的浪漫主义文学特征。

Abstract

Edgar Allan Poe is the most controversial writer in American literature history. As an important representative of western romanticism, he wrote a lot of excellent poems and novels. The Raven is one of him famous poems.

From the angle of romantic literature, this thesis considers Poe’s background and experience, and takes the Raven as an example to analyze the romantic characteristics of Edgar Allan Poe’s works. It first gives a brief introduction of the development of romantic literature and the background of the research of Edgar Allan Poe both in western countries and in China. Then it explains the characteristics of romanticism. Romantic literature emphasizes on observing human’s inner emotion to express personality and sensibility and creates images by using expression techniques such as imagination and exaggeration. On the creative style, imaginative conception and changeable plot are the main features.

Therefore, this paper analyzes the Raven with its subjectivity, expression technique, use of myth and the dramatic style to represent romantic characteristics in Poe’s poem.
